Many people misunderstand what the client name is. It's the name of the SAP R/3 system to which you are connecting.
Most companies have several clients designated for different tasks. For example, one hypothetical company has the following setup:
The Client 401 Training system is used for training new users. Eventually, the training data is discarded. Purchase orders created here aren't issued, and the customer orders aren't filled. Therefore, this is a safe practice area.
The Client 101 Production system is the live system used to run the business. It's not safe to practice here.
Caution
Use the Correct Client Learn the name of your company's training system from your support organization and make sure that you're connecting to the system you need. It's frustrating to find out the work you intended to save was actually entered into the training system. Also, practicing on your company's production system can be a "career-limiting" move.
