Practice Project:
Bookmark
A personalized bookmark is a perfect first sewing project. Using fabrics that don’t fray or
stretch, such as felt or wool felt, make this project simple, stress free, and fun!
Simply choose two coordinating colors for the main bookmark and accent with either a cut
fabric strip or ribbons of any width. You can make them in your favorite colors or the colors of
a popular sports team. The possibilities are endless!

from the left edge, and pin in place. Zigzag stitch
over the edge of layer C down the length of the
strip, and backstitch at each end to secure.
Fold the edge of layer C under at the top and
bottom so it is under layer B. Place layer B on top
of layer A; center them so the exposed edges are
even. Pin to secure.
Straight stitch on all four sides of layer B. Back-
stitch at the beginning and end of each row of
stitches. Your stitching lines will crisscross at the
corners.
