Snaps and Velcro
Snaps
Snaps and Velcro have two sides that fasten when pushed together and open
when pulled apart. Both are used in the same way on garments, but are sewn on a
bit differently.
Thread a hand-sewing needle, and tie a knot in
the end of the thread. Position the stud side of
the snap on the inside edge of the opening. Sew
several loops around each of the four holes. Knot
the thread again to secure.
Position the socket side of the snap on the out-
side of the other side of the opening, making
sure it is lined up with the stud side. Sew several
looped stitches in each on the four holes, and
knot the last stitch to secure.

Velcro has a hook side and a loop side. Cut equal
lengths of the desired amount for the opening
you are working with.
Position the pieces so the hook and loop sides
will lay on top of each other when the opening
is closed. Straight stitch around all four edges to
secure, being sure to pivot the corners and back-
stitch for durability.
