STEP 1: DETERMINE THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF CANNABINOIDS

The first step is to figure out which combination of cannabinoids to use to get the best results. Some medical conditions do better with more THC. Some medical conditions need both THC and CBD. And then there are conditions that benefit from more CBD (see Part 2).

The CBD can come from marijuana or it can come from hemp, so you can use either cannabis oil or hemp oil. Both fall under the general category of CBD oils.

Hemp oil, by default, has more CBD than THC; more specifically, it has less than 0.3 percent THC, making it a desirable option for conditions that are benefited by higher levels of CBD.

With cannabis oil, the lab test results have to be closely examined to figure out just how much more CBD there is relative to THC. For conditions benefited by CBD, obviously, the greater the amount of CBD relative to THC, the better.

Benefited by High CBD Need Some Amount of THC
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Muscle pain, such as back spasms
  • Nerve pain, such as back pain caused by sciatica, neuropathy caused by diabetes or chemotherapy, and even trigeminal neuralgia
  • Anxiety, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and panic disorder
  • Mild or moderate insomnia
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Lack of appetite
  • Autoimmune conditions, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and lupus
  • Severe nerve pain, such as pain caused by shingles and spinal stenosis
  • Severe insomnia, when sleep without medication is impossible
