Copy Documents, Not Ideas

Printed copies of any patent, identified by its patent number, may be purchased from the USPTO. Get the current fee schedule by calling 1-800-786-9199 or 571-272- 1000, or visiting www.uspto.gov.
The USPTO website enables you to search and print copies of patents for free. Numerous nongovernment patent search engines on the Internet also are useful. I prefer not to recommend them by name because I do not know anything about them, and they may not be there by the time you take a look.
Speaking of documents, the USPTO no longer has a Disclosure Document program. It stopped February 1, 2007.

Fast Facts
The first inventions have been traced to the Paleolithic Period, which ran from about 2½ million years ago to 8000 B.C.E. Old Stone Age people created axes, chisels, and other hand tools by chipping bone, flint, horn, and ivory into myriad shapes. The bow and arrow and the spear were invented to hunt. People also discovered during this period that striking flint on metal ore could cause fire.
