On the second or latter consideration, the rejection of claims may be made final. Your response is then limited to appeal and further amendment is restricted. You may petition the director in the case of objections or requirements not involved in the rejection of any claim. Response to a final rejection must include cancellation of, or appeal from, the rejection of each claim so rejected and, if any claim stands allowed, compliance with any requirement or objection as to its form.

In determining such final rejection, your examiner will repeat or state all grounds of rejection then considered applicable to your claims as stated in the application.

The odds? Patents are granted in about two of every three applications filed.
