2. Getting Back on Track

When you are experiencing structural tension, try this: Get the conflict out on paper. Do a visual journal page about what it feels like to be where you are right now compared to where you want to be. If it feels messy, make the page messy. Remember, a visual journal is a journal first. You are not making art. See if you can even exaggerate the feelings on the page. How frustrated, ugly, messy can the page look? What does this conflict feel like, look like? How does it manifest in your life? What does it say to you? What do you say to yourself? Use both writing and image to get it all down in your journal. Take notes about what you experienced after the process. What insights came to light? Was there a shift in emotion? What was the experience like?
