Take Heart: What Your Mandala Reveals

It’s no surprise that creative types doing the mandala exercise mostly reveal gaps in the Value and Profitability and Skills and Tools pathways. This is to be expected, as they are concerned with honing their gifts and are usually making decisions based on what has Heart and Meaning, sometimes above all else. But guess what? The exact opposite is true for the business managers I work with. They excel at value propositions and managerial skills and tools, and they struggle with meaning and bringing their true gifts to bear in their work. This also is not surprising. But the process can evoke shockwaves when you do it for yourself and see the gaps in your thinking, action, or feelings. There’s a difference between intellectually understanding a truth and knowing it from your own experience. That’s why the next exercise and entire next chapter are devoted to exploring those gaps.
