I was nourished throughout this project by Kevin Newsom's selfless love, generosity, and kindness. The wonderful legacy of my father, Professor E. G. Parameswaran, to his three children – a legacy of valuing collegiality and relationships and of building “ashrams” or academic communities – has inspired me as I navigated my way through this volume.
