LATE PREGNANCY
1 2 3
Adapted Indian dance movements and the dynamic stillness
of held poses—similar to those displayed by Indian gods and
goddesses in statues and pictures—can help make you supple,
light-hearted, and full of joyous energy with which to welcome
your baby. As you make all the necessary preparations for the
birth, use these fluid movements, performed in strong standing
positions, to simply enjoy your creativity at this special time.
YOGA DANCE
Stand with feet wide apart.
Place one hand over the
other. Lower into a semi-
squat. Press your hands down
rhythmically in small circles,
moving your shoulders freely.
Keep your feet and hands in
position as you draw your elbows
from side to side to make wide
semicircles. Bend your knees to
drop down in the middle of each
swinging motion.
If you feel confident,
complete a full circle
by raising your elbows
up over your head
and then down on
the other side.
BENEFITS AND
CAUTIONS
These dances prevent constipation
and can help your baby get into the
optimum position for birth.
Do only what feels comfortable,
without strain, at your own pace.
Avoid raising your hands above
your head if your blood
pressure is high.
