When you're taking notes on a legal pad or notebook, you are limited to what you can write or affix to the piece of paper. If you need to take a printed document or spreadsheet and insert it in your notes, you'll need to either staple or tape the paper to the notebook page or copy the entire contents of the document by hand into your notes.
OneNote makes inserting information from other applications significantly easier. You can copy a variety of information from other applications, including the Internet. You can insert portions of Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint slides, images, Web sites, and even information from non-Office applications such as Adobe Acrobat.
