Commanding a bluff on the east side of downtown, Parque Nacional is a bucolic tree-shaded retreat in the heart of San José. Bordering the park is one of Costa Rica’s most important government centers, the Legislative Assembly complex. Nearby cultural sights include the National Museum and National Center for Culture. The area makes for pleasant strolling, especially along the pedestrianized area sloping south from Parque Nacional, a lovely place to sit and relax.
