17.8. DAVIC

The Digital Audio-Visual Council (DAVIC) developed technical specifications to assure the end-to-end interoperability for digital audio-visual applications. DAVIC was an international forum that primarily addressed service provider and CPE aspects for video-on-demand and broadcast video services. DAVIC had over 200 member companies in 1997. In addition to the Forum Management committees, DAVIC consisted of working groups addressing applications, physical layers, information representation, security, subsystems, and systems integration. DAVIC produced a specification for TV distribution, video-on-demand, and teleshopping. DAVIC ceased operation in 1999.
