Dear Lloyd,

I'm not sure if you have been receiving all of my emails, as many editorial notes within those emails have not been addressed. These range from relatively minor concerns such as use of offensive and/or inappropriate language, to much larger concerns including, but not limited to, numerous libel issues and the overall direction of the book.

I hope you know that we love you over here at Focal Press, but I have been advised by our legal team to inform you that failure to meet the agreed upon length of 322 pages will result in nullification of contract.

Essentially, you will not be paid.

Please let us know what you intend to do to rectify this unfortunate situation.
