One advantage that MicroStrategy offers, is the ability to review our scorecards and dashboards from our mobile devices without an extra effort towards configuration.
The scope of mobile MicroStrategy includes mobile browser solutions and mobile BI client solutions. The mobile browser solutions enable the sharing of the reports, as we explained in Chapter 5, Sharing Your BI Reports and Dashboards, via web links (URLs), and then we can access the information using the web browser in the device. The reports work, but are not fully functional in terms of usability, and you require an Internet connection for accessing the report data.
An advanced option is to install a mobile BI client solution application in your device; this application is able to access our dashboards and scorecards in a more native way and is able to access the reports in the offline mode.
In order to enable this functionality, you need to download the application from the application market place for your mobile device (iTunes for Apple and Google play for Android), as shown in the following screenshot. These apps are available for free download, and any future updates to the application are pushed to the mobile device:
When we download the app in the mobile device, the Apple iOS in our case, we only need to configure our username and password for the MicroStrategy platform, and you will able to access your reports immediately, as shown in the following screenshot:
All the security details and levels of access to our reports are maintained; the mobile apps of MicroStrategy leverage all the configuration settings for our users.
