The field of XML Web services is awash with protocols and standards. Throughout this book, we have shown you how to create and use XML Web services without venturing into the underlying technologies. As we have demonstrated, by using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and the tools provided with the .NET Framework SDK, you can develop highly functional XML Web services without the need to understand or directly manipulate these underlying technologies.
However, now that you can confidently develop XML Web services, you might want to pursue a deeper understanding of what is going on under the covers. In this appendix, we provide links to a selection of resources with information about various protocols, standards, technologies, and products. You should find these resources useful as you explore XML Web services further.
