The Heiress
Production Meeting Notes
Monday, July 1st ~ 10:30 p.m.

Scenic:

  • Catherine will be sitting in the window seat with a hurricane in Act II, scene 2. We need to make sure that the curtains will not catch on fire (either flame-retardant material or placement onstage).
  • The mayor will be lending us the chair set for the Sloper chairs!
  • The window seat will be 24 inches tall. There needs to be a discussion between Jonathan and Evie about details on how this will look.
  • The baseboards will be made out of 2-inch foam stripping and painted.
  • The front door will not be seen (for shadow and sound only). So, we’d like a solid door, but it doesn’t have to look any particular way.
  • Completed set pieces will be moved into the wings of the theater for Evie to start sketching.
  • We will be using Chris’ white writing desk from Lend Me A Tenor.

Costumes:

  • Catherine will have a bonnet and gloves to put on in Act II, scene 2.
    • We would like to find or make a reticule for Catherine that will match her dress in II.2.
  • We would like a rehearsal jacket for Bob.
    • His jacket is very similar to a blazer. We will ask Bob if he has one he can bring in to start working with. If not, Costumes can have one for us by Sunday.
  • Please stretch Bob’s shoes as soon as possible so we can start rehearsing with them.
  • We would like hoops and corsets fitted for rehearsal by Saturday.

Lighting:

  • We will be having a sound meeting at 12 p.m. on Sunday, 7th.
  • Hurricanes are in the rehearsal space; Jen will take some time to work with them and see how much light they will throw.

Sound:

  • We will be having a sound meeting at 12 p.m. on Sunday, 7th.
  • Rather than getting a doorbell, we would just like a doorknocker and we will adjust the line that refers to a doorbell.

Props:

  • To obscure the clock face, we will try to find an ornate Victorian clock face and remove the hands.
    • If this doesn’t work, we can just fog the glass with soap.
  • The brandy glasses need to be more ornate.
  • For the hurricanes, we will want ones that flare up or are straight cylinders (these are the safest).
  • Final prop add date—Sunday, 7th.
  • All of the chairs should be armless (the only exception being Dr Sloper’s chair).
