‘Bookkeeping? I love bookkeeping. Bookkeeping is my life. In fact, now that I’ve mentioned it three times I can claim you as a deduction.’

In this part . . .

The part of tens is my favourite part of any For Dummies title. Here is when I get to be short and snappy, and fire off instructions nineteen to the dozen. (Although my husband claims that I get to do this every morning, I beg to differ.)

In Chapter 19, I share ten tips for bookkeepers working in not-for-profit organisations, concentrating on the weighty topics of accountability, reporting requirements and budget management. In Chapter 20, I delight in sharing my basket of tricks for getting customers to pay on time, and I even manage to do so without mentioning martial arts, blackmail or enforced babysitting duties of triplet boys.

In Chapter 21, the last regular chapter of this book, I focus on what it means to be a contract bookkeeper, sharing tips about how to charge properly for your time, promote your business, and meet your legal obligations. Following Chapter 21, I’ve included a handy Glossary where you can quickly look up the most common bookkeeping terms. I know you’ve already memorised all the terms, but the Glossary is there just in case.
