Preface

A project is an instrument of change, and no project is truly successful unless its objective(s) are achieved. Every project has its specific objective(s) and is unique. The term project is evolving and constantly changing; with more and more social and infrastructure projects, the need to have a better understanding of managerial and financing aspects of projects by the executives, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, has become central to the successful delivery of projects.

The present book spread over two volumes covers aspects relating to management and financing of projects. Volume 1 deals with the managerial concepts used in a project, that is, project phases, its formulation, and appraisal techniques; of course, there is no one best technique, and executive judgment is very often called upon. The present Volume 2 is devoted to the financing aspects, related in particular, to the infrastructure projects, including the PPP approaches, and project monitoring and the performance measurement through time and cost over-run of projects.

Every chapter begins with the listing of the objectives to be achieved and includes, at the end, certain project instances, brief case examples, and case studies to provide substantive insights into specific areas of project management and financing for executives and professionals.

The book is simple to understand and a comprehensive guide for executives and professionals.
