William J. White has been a professor in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. since January 1998. He is the recipient of several teaching awards, including the Alumni Association’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He also teaches at the distinguished Kellogg School of Management.

Mr. White served as chairman, CEO, and president of Bell & Howell Company (now Proquest Company). Previously, he was chairman and president of Whitestar Graphics, Inc., and prior to that he was executive vice president and a director of USG Corporation. He also held executive positions at Masonite Corporation, Mead Corporation, and Hartmarx Corporation.

Mr. White is an industrial engineering graduate of Northwestern University and he received an MBA degree from Harvard University. He coauthored Creative Collective Bargaining, published by Prentice Hall in 1965.

He has been the chairman of the Advisory Council of the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University. He is past chairman of the Business Advisory Council at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mr. White is a trustee of Northwestern University, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Packaging Dynamics Corporation, The Reader’s Digest Association, Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Foundation, and The Field Museum.
