Foreword

I created PrimeFaces to make it easy to add rich UI components to JSF applications. Today, PrimeFaces has become a mature and powerful library with over 100 flexible and easy-to-use UI components, built-in Ajax, theme awareness, HTML5 support, mobile optimized rendering, and much more. PrimeFaces has been adopted by many companies and organizations, and has a strong and helpful community of users.

Ian has been an important member of the PrimeFaces community for some time. I first met him at JSF Summit in Orlando, in 2009 where he was giving talks on JSF development and promoting his first book, JSF 1.2 Components. He wrote about PrimeFaces in his first book, and I am glad he was able to give it a complete coverage in this title. Since that conference, Ian and I have become friends, and he has demonstrated a true commitment to the JSF community and ecosystem.

He has given the official PrimeFaces talk at JAXConf in San Jose and San Francisco for the past couple of years, and he developed a Dreamweaver extension for PrimeFaces. I worked with Ian on the JSF 2.2 Expert Group this year, and I know you are in good hands while reading this book.
