About the Authors

John W. Boudreau, Ph.D., professor and research director at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and Center for Effective Organizations, is recognized for breakthrough research on how decisions about human capital, talent, and human resources affect sustainable competitive advantage. He has more than 100 publications, including over 10 books as well as articles and chapters published in scholarly journals like Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Dynamics and Human Relations, and features in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Fast Company, and Business Week. Ravin Jesuthasan, CFA, is the global practice leader of Towers Watson's Talent Management Practice. He is a managing director of the firm and is based in the Chicago office. Ravin has published numerous articles and led several global research efforts on the topics of measurement and analytics, human capital management, rewards, labor cost optimization, and talent management. As a recognized global thought leader, he has been a featured speaker on these subjects at conferences in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. He has also been featured and quoted extensively by leading business media, including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, CNBC, Fortune, FT, Human Capital (China), Les Echoes (France), Valor Economico (Brazil), Business Times (Malaysia), Globe and Mail (Canada), South China Morning Post, Dubai One TV, and The Australian among others. He has been recognized as one of the top 25 most influential consultants in the world by Consulting Magazine. He is also the co-author of the recently released book, Transformative HR. David Creelman is CEO of Creelman Research. He helps organizations identify, make sense of, and address important new issues in human capital. His work with Andrew Lambert on one such issue (board oversight of human capital) won the Walker Award. Another important topic is leadership transitions in knowledge-based firms—Creelman works closely with Dr. Wanda Wallace on this subject. Finally, one of the most important new issues in HR is analytics and evidence-based management; Creelman leads a community of practice of Fortune 500 companies on those topics with Carnegie-Mellon's Denise Rousseau as the academic lead.

David has spoken about reporting on human capital at the World Bank headquarters in Paris, worked with the Etisalat Academy in Dubai, and helped leaders from Japan's Recruit Co. tour the U.S. HR tech industry. He is a long-term member of the Workforce Institute's advisory board in Boston and regularly does research for the Tokyo-based Works Institute.

Prior to his current role David helped launch HR.com as chief of content and research; earlier still he worked as a management consultant for the Hay Group in Toronto and Kuala Lumpur and taught an HR course at the University of Malaya.

He began his career with corporate jobs in the resources and finance industries in Canada and the UK. He has a BS in chemistry and biochemistry and an MBA. He now lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and daughter.
