PART 3
Math Matters

There’s no getting around it; nurses use math every single day. They have to fill in and analyze data in charts. They measure medications and calculate percentages and proportions. And they do a lot of problem solving. The good news is that to qualify for nursing school, you don’t have to be a math genius. You just need high school–level skills in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and reasoning.

This part will refresh your memory and skills in areas of math that you likely haven’t thought about since grammar school, such as adding fractions with different denominators. It also takes you through more complex types of math that you may not have understood all that well the first time you touched on them in high school—but you sure will this time, with a little practice.
