Oracle DBA Pocket Guide

base market for more than two decades. Oracle Corporation
has achieved this enviable position by providing a product
that is compatible, scalable, portable, and capable of per-
forming incredibly fast. The advantages Oracle holds over its
competition come with a price, however—the Oracle data-
base is a very complex product, and is becoming more so
with every release. As a result, database administration has
become critical, and the database administrator (DBA) has
become key to the successful implementation of Oracle.
This book is a quick reference whose goal is to help Oracle
DBAs, as well as designers and developers, make more effec-

useful information about administering the Oracle database
in a clear, concise, and easy-to-use form.
This book focuses on the most recent Oracle releases, Ora-
cle Database 10g and Oracle9i Database, with occasional ref-
