Foreword

The purpose of this guide is to help people prepare for their PRINCE2^® examinations. It is also intended for those who have decided to maintain their practitioner status by taking an examination rather than by collecting continuous professional development (CPD) points via AXELOS My PRINCE2 membership. It may serve as a refresher for those who need to regain their qualification or who wish to test their understanding of the revised guidance, especially the additional elements on tailoring. This publication is not intended to be a substitute for the guidance found in Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2, but to work alongside that publication and show how your knowledge will be tested.

The examinations are designed to test your knowledge of PRINCE2 at two levels. Firstly, to confirm your awareness and understanding of the basic PRINCE2 vocabulary and establish a foundational level. Secondly, at practitioner level, to confirm your ability to apply PRINCE2 to a given test scenario and demonstrate your ability to tailor the method appropriately.

This publication will be helpful to those preparing to undertake formal PRINCE2 training via an accredited training organization, self-study or a distance learning approach. It is important to find a learning style that suits you best. Whichever way is best for you, this book will help you prepare for, and become comfortable with, both the foundation and practitioner level examination formats.
