Abstract

There are many nuts and bolts and theoretical books on entrepreneurship available in the market today, but it is not the nuts and bolts nor theory that makes a true entrepreneur, it is adherence to the unique mindset and philosophy. This book focuses on the concepts, mindset, philosophy, and qualities of entrepreneurship and will provide guidance and suggest helpful activities at the end of each chapter to inspire the reader to take positive steps toward entrepreneurship. It will teach the reader how to Think, Act, and Practice like an entrepreneur.

Many of the author’s personal experiences have been included throughout the book as real life examples of issues and decisions that the reader may face in their path toward entrepreneurship and to demonstrate that anyone can be an entrepreneur if they know what it takes and are shown how to go about it.

This book was designed to be read and be helpful to individuals of any age with entrepreneurial aspirations in any profession. In Chapter 8, this book contains a summary of helpful advice, drawn out by the author, from successful entrepreneurs working in specialties across a spectrum of 12 different professions. This will provide the reader a broad understanding of what it takes to be successful in a variety of fields. Chapter 8 also contains a piece written from an often-forgotten perspective, that of the significant other. This will provide the reader an understanding of some of the sacrifices required as well as the potential rewards for those closest to them.

The premise of this book is on the entrepreneurial way of life and it will focus on the three key concepts as follows:

1. Part I: How to Think Like an Entrepreneurship.

2. Part II: How to Act Like an Entrepreneur.

3. Part III: How to Practice Like an Entrepreneur.

This book will outline the Seven Key Qualities That Are Integral To Successful Entrepreneurship, identify the Six Main Concepts Of The Entrepreneurial Mindset and detail how and what entrepreneurs think about. It will offer a new and alternative definition of what a true entrepreneur is and how it differs from the conventional definition. It will expose the Seven Key Differences Between Being An Entrepreneur Versus Just Being A Business Owner. It will touch on how to focus on investing and not on over-consuming. It will detail the differences between assets and liabilities, explain how to buy your homes wisely, and teach you how to manage, maximize, and grow your 401(k) to put you in position to fund your startup. It will help you define what success means to you so that you can set goals and identify paths to attain them. It will encourage you to emulate the best and help you identify areas of specialty in which you can provide a product or service faster, better, or “cheaper” than anyone else to help maximize success. It will identify the Five Steps To Achieve Success. It will discuss how to prepare your business to adapt and survive during difficult economic times. Finally, it will teach you how to create credentials, master self-promotion, seek recognition, network, and originate business.

Being an entrepreneur is not easy and it can, and will, be difficult at times but it can also be extremely rewarding and liberating. The saying “if I can do it…you can do it too” holds true. The book will not only show you how to do it, but it will also provide firsthand accounts and personal experiences and details of how I did it, including the hurdles I encountered and how I overcame them. The personal information and experiences provided in this book are not intended to be a success story as it also contains examples of failures along the way. It is instead a story of personal perseverance, determination, overcoming obstacles and is still very much a work in progress. It is written with the intent of providing the reader a road map of how I did it and how you can do it better.

They say hindsight is 20/20 and they are right. I am only in the position to advise the reader because of my experiences, successes and even the mistakes made on my personal path to entrepreneurship. It is much easier for me to tell you what to do, since I have already gone through it myself. I know what worked and did not work for me. I remember the mistakes I made and the successes I had. Now, I wish to share those with you in the hopes that it makes your path toward entrepreneurship easier, and your successes greater, than mine. Remember that regardless of what you get out of this book, it is ultimately up to you to put what you learn into practice to begin to realize your dream of entrepreneurship.
