Readability Tips

Many books use the word “Sprint” rather than “Iteration.” Some people actually think that the words are interchangeable. However, to perform at a “Sprint Level” pace is decidedly NOT sustainable. Rather, in Agile Scrum we like to work at a “sustainable pace.” That is, “Sprints” are not sustainable; they are short bursts of high energy and should certainly NOT be a way of life out of respect for people and their families.

All words specific to Agile are capitalized and bolded when first used, and capitalized thereon. When an Agile term refers to an individual or collective of individuals, the words are squished together, as well as capitalized. For example: “AgileScrumTeam,” “ProductOwner,” “ScrumMaster,” “BuildTeam” etc.

A key to learning a new professional skill is to understand the jargon of that industry. To assist you in learning the jargon of Agile Scrum, a Glossary of common Agile Scrum terms is included at the end of this book.
