Conducting Business

The most basic rule is to conduct your business in your style. Set the pace. Do not get caught up in your prospective licensee’s timetables and priorities. Things tend to get worse under pressure during a negotiation.
Before you negotiate a contract, put these pearls of wisdom into your head:
◆ Stop. Look. And listen.
◆ Say no; then negotiate.
◆ Trust everybody, but cut the cards.
◆ Don’t wish for luck; prepare for luck.
◆ If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, expect a duck.
◆ Don’t get mad; don’t get even; get ahead.
◆ Never murder a person who is committing suicide.
◆ Bite the bullet only if you can stand the taste of gunpowder.
