Ken Jennings is a recognized expert and trusted advisor in organizational effectiveness and counsels senior leadership teams on mission-critical projects while helping them build collaborative leadership skills. Also a popular seminar and conference speaker, Ken gives practical advice on achieving strategic breakthroughs through focusing on Greater Goals, shared goal achievement, and Greater Goal Coaching for teams and individuals.
At the heart of Ken’s leadership philosophy is a passion for “putting servant leadership to work.” His best-selling book, The Serving Leader: 5 Powerful Actions That Will Transform Your Team, Your Business, and Your Community, coauthored with John Stahl-Wert, was published in the Ken Blanchard leadership series. This book centers on leading with integrity and purpose.
Drawing on a background of consulting across all major industries, with experience in life sciences and healthcare delivery, Ken works at many healthcare technology, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology organizations, as well as at over twenty-five academic medical centers and integrated delivery systems. With his partner and wife, Heather Hyde, Ken founded ThirdRiver Partners, which is committed to bringing world-class consulting services to great leaders and institutions.
Ken is a past codirector of the Global Leadership in Healthcare Program at the University of Michigan Business School, where he engaged clients in intensive action-learning projects to deliver leadership and team development while accomplishing critical strategic project goals. He was also a global managing partner at Accenture in health care and change management. He led engagements in strategic planning, postmerger integration, disease and medical management, e-commerce, organizational transformation, and team development.
Ken holds a doctorate in organizational development from Purdue University, a master of science in management from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of science in behavioral science from the Air Force Academy. He is also a graduate of the Kellogg Management Institute at Northwestern University. A respected author, Ken’s early work included innovative solutions for the healthcare industry that are widely implemented today. Ken’s other faculty experience includes positions as adjunct professor in leadership at Columbia University Business School; adjunct professor in strategy and leadership at Wheaton College; strategy lecturer at King’s Fund College in London; faculty in management at the University of Maryland, East Asian Division; fellowship faculty at the American College of Healthcare Executives; graduate faculty in organizational behavior at the Air Force Institute of Technology; and Visiting Scholar at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

Heather Hyde consults with ThirdRiver clients who are engaged in strategy execution and leadership development initiatives. Most important to Heather is to work with leaders to create ownership at the individual level through commitments that are relevant, transparent, and compelling. She has acted as a trusted advisor to performance teams that have produced exceptional outcomes and is currently involved in facilitating teams focused on diverse opportunities, such as performance management and new product development.
Heather believes we have each been created with very specific gifts to offer, and through offering our gifts in the service of others, we have the potential to change our world. Her passion is to help leaders find how their special gifts and strengths can be energized and engaged to achieve Greater Goals in service to a world that works for all. Heather loves to bring new perspectives to conference audiences and is a warm and engaging speaker and a dynamic workshop facilitator.
Heather facilitates Serving Leader Team Development and Greater Goal Venture Teams. Her approach applies human performance improvement technologies to the design of learning experiences for high-performance leadership teams. She draws on a background in strategic planning that begins with understanding how value is created. She works with management to create ownership at the individual level of goals that are relevant and valued.
Heather developed expertise consulting in a wide variety of public- and private-sector organizations. She was active in turnaround and crisis management in her early career as a certified public accountant and certified insolvency and reorganization advisor, developing solutions for companies in highly challenged circumstances. Following graduate work in the University of Michigan’s Human Performance Improvement program, her process has been to apply rigorous analysis and review of systems affecting individuals, processes, management policies, and work environments.
Heather lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and keeps a loving watch over her husband, Ken Jennings, and four grown children, who keep the Jenningses very busy following their exploits around the world.
