Chapter 23. Sunday

Sunday

The pastor started his talk with a story from the Old Testament. He quoted a passage in the bible where the Israelites were freed from Egypt by Moses. He told how they had spent 400 years as captive slaves, and all at once they were free. At first they were happy and thrilled. But within a month and a half, they started complaining about being hungry. They complained about not having enough water. They complained about living in the wilderness. They even said it would be better to be back in Egypt than slaves free in the desert. Four hundred years of slavery and all it took was a month and a half to start complaining again. Finally, he said, God became so frustrated with all the complaining that He threatened their very existence. Hope smiled and thought: Turns out God is a big fan of the No Complaining Rule. She, of course, knew exactly why she was there today. This message was for her.

The pastor continued, "This story represents the choice we all have. To be positive and free or to be imprisoned by our own negativity. To live in the past or to be hopeful about the future. It's a choice. And only you can make it."

Hope thought about her life and knew that she had been given choices many times throughout the year. She saw how she had imprisoned herself from everyone at work and her family at home. But now she was making the right choices again. She knew The No Complaining Rule was a great choice for her. She just hoped it was the right choice for her company.
