Acknowledgments

I am indebted to everyone who has contributed to my understanding of the subject. Different views regarding the effectiveness or success/failure of demonetization have been conveyed through seminars, conferences, reports, magazines, and newspaper articles. It is needless to say that in writing this book I have drawn from some excellent literature on the subject from the writings of many scholars whose views I have incorporated in the book, and I would like to express my gratefulness to each of them for their unique perspective and expertise. The quality of this book is shared by all; however, for the errors and limitations, I alone am responsible. Writing a book has always been an arduous task that requires enormous perseverance, endurance, and sustained commitment over a long period. This book is a product of my experience over the past five and half decades of professional work as a teacher, trainer, and researcher. I am deeply obliged to numerous students, teachers, scholars, and practicing managers with whom I have had the privilege of interacting in my professional career. A special word of appreciation is due to my old friend Prof. D. P. S. Verma (Professor of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi), who very kindly accepted my request, at a very short notice, for going through the entire manuscript, which helped me in improving the presentation and bringing it to its present format. I am deeply indebted to him, but I have not been able to find suitable words to express my sincere feelings for him. There is a long list of people to whom I am beholden for their encouragement during the completion of this book. However, I would like to mention Dr. Rabi Narayan Kar (Principal, Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi), Dr. Sunil Ashra (Professor of Economics, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram), Dr. S. S. Khanka (Professor of Management, Delhi Technological University, East Campus, Delhi), Mr. Dhritman Gupta and Ms. Prachi Singh (Consultant, NITI Aayog, Delhi) for their support. Not least members of my family for their patience in dealing with the opportunity cost of my spending the time to complete this task.

A very special thanks goes to my brother (Shri Prithwi Raj Singh, Department of Commerce, Satyawati College, University of Delhi, Delhi) for his unstinted cooperation and support at all the stages of my academic career. In preparation of this book right from the very beginning, Mr. Manish Kumar Sharma has been a great source of strength in providing all the necessary secretarial assistance, and I express my special thanks to him. I would appreciate any comments, corrections, or suggestions from all quarters so that I can continue to improve this text in the years ahead. I eagerly look forward to receiving feedback at [email protected], for which I would be highly grateful.
