Acknowledgments

First and foremost I’d like to thank my wife Connie, who supported me through this project with countless acts of love, both great and small. I probably would have starved to death, lost the dog, or let the house burn down if she hadn’t been watching things while I spent hours hunched over my computer. I’m sure there are hundreds of things she wishes I’d had time to do instead, and for all those I thank her and apologize as well.

Thanks to my children, Lorrill, Justin, and Lynessa, for their love, support, and understanding. "I can’t; I have to work on the book," is a phrase that comes up all too often during these projects. Thanks as well to my parents, my brothers, and their families: Harold, Marcella, Ruth, Dave, Connie, Michael, Steven, Rick, Jenny, Matt, and Claire. Who’d have thought any of us would end up as we are?

At Microsoft Press, thanks to David Clark and Anne Hamilton, who handled all the business details for the book. Thanks as well to Barbara Moreland who, as project editor, kept the project on track and unified through much confusion and many unexpected events.

Thanks to Joyce Cox, Aaron L’Heureux, Martin Stillion, and all the other people at Online Training Solutions, Inc. who transformed a raw manuscript into the finished product before you now. Their unflagging quest for quality was an inspiration to me as well.

Thanks to Interland, Inc., and in particular to Ken Gavranovic and Jason Peoples, for their assistance in providing the www.interlacken.com Web site.

Most of all, thanks to you, the readers, who make an effort such as this both possible and worthwhile. I hope the book meets your expectations and that we meet again.
