About the Author

Dasarte Yarnway is founder and managing director of Berknell Financial Group (BFG), a fiduciary wealth management and financial planning firm headquartered in San Francisco, California. Born in San Francisco and raised in that city’s Geneva Towers housing project, Dasarte’s curiosity about money and the way it works began when he saw the lack of money in his community’s households, schools, and businesses. His own parents were Liberian immigrants who had been forced to leave their country because of the threat of civil war. In response to these experiences, he sought to create the multigenerational wealth that his family and the families around his neighborhood lacked.

From community organizing and service to youth mentorship, Dasarte has dedicated his life to helping people find freedom through their financial decisions. His Advice With You In Mind motto and movement has inspired many to think about finances in a way that allows them to live out their wildest dreams.

Berknell Financial Group, established in 2015, currently has three offices, in San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. By using its RIITE planning process, BFG advisors seek to help their clients reach their goals in the areas of retirement planning, investments, insurance, and taxes and estate planning without conflict of interest. Dasarte plans on expanding the firm to help change the narrative and the experience of investors and their financial advisors for the better.
