Preface
This IBM® Redbooks® publication introduces users to the concepts of the IBM PureApplication™ System V1.0. This book covers the most common problems, solutions, best practices, and use cases about adopting the IBM PureApplication System V1.0.
The target audience for this book is anyone from the IT industry who wants to acquire a better understanding of IBM PureApplication System, including technical consultants, business partners, and independent software vendors who are considering migrating to a cloud computing solution. This book also is applicable to system administrators, middleware specialists, and software engineers who need a more in-depth approach to PureApplication System features and capabilities.

Shivaji D Bhosale is a Team Lead at Application and Infrastructure systems management (ISM), Systems and Technology group, Pune, India. He has 16 years of experience in the IT sector. He has a master's degree in Computer Management from Shivaji University Kolhapur. His areas of expertise include IBM Cloud implementation on VMware and PowerVM®, UNIX, pSeries®, middleware, and related technologies. He is an IBM Certified Specialist in Cloud Computing Infrastructure V1 Architect, pSeries AIX® System Administration, Tivoli® Monitoring, and EXIN ITIL. Shivaji is a co-author of IBM Redbooks publications WebSphere® Cloudburst Appliance and PowerVM , SG247806. His areas of interest include cloud technology, pSeries virtualization, middleware, and systems management automation.
Gabor Gyetvai is a Technical consultant in Hungary. He has 15 years of experience in different IT areas. He worked on the PureSystem enablements project since the announcement of PureSystem. He holds a degree in IT Technical Engineering from Hungary. His areas of expertise include Lotus® Domino® development, storage, System x, and Mobile application platform.
Valter Inacio Jr. is an IT specialist from Brazil with 12 years of experience in software development, infrastructure support, and systems administration. He works at CPqD as an architect for fraud prevention solutions that are designed for the financial market, which involve Business Rules and Analytics, Business Intelligence, Java Enterprise Edition, and service-oriented architectures (SOAs). CPqD is an independent institution that is focused on innovation in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Valter holds a Bachelor's degree in Informatics and a Master's in Computing Science from University of São Paulo. He also is IBM Certified for several technologies, including WebSphere Application Server, Rational® Application Developer, and Object Oriented Analysis and Design.
Deepak Khandelwal is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at the IBM Software Group in India. He has nine years of experience at IBM working with the middleware platform. He worked on WebSphere Application Server as a testing, level3 support, and development engineer. His primary areas of expertise include Java programming, J2EE, and related technologies. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Visweswaraiah Technological University in Karnataka, India. Ajay also is an IBM Certified System Administrator for WebSphere Application Server and SOA solutions. He also holds professional certifications on Java technology and DB2®.
Ajay Krishna is a Thought Leader Level 3 IT Specialist at IBM. He is a WebSphere and PureApplication System IT Specialist working for IBM Global Services in Hortolândia-São Paulo, Brazil. He has 12 years of experience of middleware in the WebSphere Software Platform and Tivoli Directory Server field with support and development. He has three years of experience in projects with multiple IBM products. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computers from Paraná Federal University (UFPR) and is in a Master’s degree program at Paraná Federal Technical University (UTFPR). He is certified for WebSphere Application Server 7 and 8 versions. His areas of expertise include PureApplication System architect, Middleware infrastructure architect, and Cloud projects.
 
Marcelo Mota Manhaes is a Level 2 Certified IT Specialist working for IBM Global Technology Services® in Brazil. He has eight years of expertise in supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM WebSphere Portal Server. His main areas of expertise are automation for WebSphere administration, infrastructure design, implementation, maintenance, and problem determination of the WebSphere environment. Eduardo also is an IBM Certified System Administrator for WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, and SOA Solutions. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina.
Eduardo Monich Fronza is an IBM Certified Senior Architect, focused on the Oil and Gas industry in Houston, Texas. He has over 15 years of experience developing Enterprise IT solutions for various industries. Previously, Shailendra worked in the IBM WebSphere Application Server Professional services group where he leveraged WebSphere Portal Server and IBM Information Management products for creating and implementing Enterprise SOA solutions for clients. His interests include Business Analytics and Cloud solutions that are based on IBM portfolio of products, such as PureSystems™, Big Insights, and IBM SmartCloud®. Shailendra has a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering.
