7.4. Stage 4

7.4.1. Assembling the pictures

To finish adapting the script for the pictures, open the "view A" shot (which you saved earlier from camera to computer as, say, a.tif) in Photoshop and select Filter→Panotools→Adjust. In the Adjust Options dialog box, check both the Use Script and Run Position Optimizer radio buttons.

Capture 1

Click the Browse button, locate the scriptphare.txt script, and click OK. Wait a moment, then reopen the script with your text editor to confirm that the new lines of code have indeedbeen generated.

To apply this script to the pictures, select Filter→Panotools →Adjust in Photoshop (where a.tif is still open). In the Adjust Options dialog, check the Insert and Use Script radio buttons.

Capture 2

In Panotools, click the Pref button and check the "(b) Create New Image File" box. In the Set menu, specify the destination of the image to be created, and name it in the Save As field. The default name is ptools_result, but you can give it a different name. In this case, I chose phare. To complete the settings, go to the More menu and choose the interpolation option that best suits your needs and your computer's processing power. Click OK and a progress bar will appear.

The four Panotools interpolations options are Polynomial, Spline 16px, Spline 36px, and Sinc. If you're using a slow computer, run the fastest (least processing-intensive) calculation option to get a quick idea of the result, then go back and pick the option that gives you the best output.

When this first calculation is finished, close the a.tif picture without saving it. Open the "view B" picture (b.tif) and apply the Panotools filter as noted above. (A shortcut: press Command-F.) Wait for this second calculation to finish, close b.tif without saving it, and repeat the process with the next image, c.tif. When this third and final calculation is done, open the resulting image (phare) in Photoshop.
