If you are reading this, then I have actually done it: I have managed to write my first book. This undertaking has certainly been enjoyable, although there were times when the realisation of my editorial deadline loomed large and seemed a heavy weight to bear. First and foremost I must thank Bernard Goodwin for giving me the opportunity to have my work published.

In writing this book, I have had a considerable amount of support and encouragement from numerous people in the wireless industry along with friends and family: I thank them all for their support.

In illustrating these profiles, I have sought input from a number of leading organisations that have already invested in and developed these products. I would like to both acknowledge and thank each of them for their support. A special thanks to Nick Hunn of TDK Systems Europe (www.tdksys.com) for not only writing the foreword to this book, but for ultimately introducing me to Bluetooth technology and for providing me with both technical support and product-related material.

Special thanks also to Tom Siep of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (www.bluetooth.com), Willy Sagefalk of Axis Communications (www.axis.com), Plantronics (www.plantronics.com), Troy Holtby of 3Com Corporation (www.3com.com), Steve Beckers and Mirella Kimpen of Alcatel Microelectronics (www.alcatelmicroelectronics.com) and Jennifer Bray of Cambridge Silicon Radio (www.csr.com) for providing me with both technical support and product related material.

Finally, I want to thank my good friend Pierre Tanner of Little Back Room Designs (www.lbrd-photography.co.uk) for your talent in making me look particularly dashing in the About the Author section.
