Defining Conversational Flows

Have you ever wished that you could get a do-over on a conversation? Maybe you said something that you regret. Or perhaps you feel that you could’ve expressed your thoughts more clearly or more effectively than you did. If only you could have a second chance to say the things you could have said.

Alexa dialogs, which we learned about and employed in Chapter 4, ​Creating Multi-Turn Dialogs​, are a mighty powerful feature that enable multi-turn conversations in the skills we create. As it turns out, though, dialogs aren’t perfect. If only we had another chance at creating multi-turn conversations, we might be able to do even better.

In this chapter, we’re going to look at a relatively new Alexa feature called Alexa Conversations which will provide that second chance at creating multi-turn conversations in our skills. And, as you’ll see, Alexa Conversations will enable us to improve greatly upon the original dialogs we created before.
