The Telecommunications and Network Security domain is easily the most extensive domain in the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) examination. The CISSP candidate must thoroughly understand the various networking models, protocols, standards, services, technologies, and vulnerabilities. A networking background can definitely help you pass the exam. We highly recommend that you go out and get yourself a networking certification, such as the CompTIA Network+ or the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Such certifications are extremely helpful in preparing for this portion of the CISSP exam.
