You should back up your CSA MC configuration database regularly as part of your scheduled maintenance plan. Having backups will ensure you can keep your architecture running even when affected by CSA MC server hardware failure.
You can configure a one-time backup or regular backups of the CSA MC database to protect your configuration information and speed recovery efforts. To access the Backup menu, choose Maintenance > Backup Configuration.
NOTE
The directory specified for backups of the CSA MC configuration database must already exist before successful submission. The storage point in the network must be secure and stable and should not be the C: drive, if possible.
When configuring a backup of the CSA MC configuration database, you are presented the following options, as shown in Figure 14-22:
No Backup— This is the default option.
Low Frequency Backup— Choose from the following options:
Full— Every Sunday at midnight
Differential— Every midnight, except Sundays
Transaction Log— Every 24 hours, at noon
Medium Frequency Backup— Choose from the following options:
Full— Every Sunday at midnight
Differential— Every midnight, except Sundays
Transaction Log— Every 8 hours
High Frequency Backup— Choose from the following options:
Full— Every Sunday at midnight
Differential— Every midnight, except Sundays
Transaction Log— Every 4 Hours
Backups Directory— Choose the directory for the backup files.
You should ensure you store this backup in a safe place for both security and availability purposes. If you ever need to restore the CSA MC server from this backup, which includes license information, databases, and transaction logs, you will use the Restore utility described in the following section.
The Configuration Restoring Console is stored in the CSCOpxCSAMC45in directory and is named Restore Configuration. Double-click this file to open the Configuration Restoring Console, as shown in Figure 14-23. To perform a restore operation, all you need to provide is the backup directory location. After completing a restoration, review the log file, as shown in Figure 14-24, and verify the procedure succeeded. After log verification, it is recommended that you restart the CSA MC server.
