The writing of Credit 911 has been a long road—one filled with excitement, long hours, hard work, brain numbing wordplay, minor setbacks, major victories, and countless interviews with people in crisis. I’ve experienced growth as a man, husband, father, leader, and educator.
I owe a huge thank-you to my co-worker and friend, Suzie Reed, without whom Credit 911 would not have been possible. When you first walked into my office eight years ago, I could never have known the impact you’d have on my life and my career. Thank you for always pushing me to do more, and believing that we can accomplish great things together. Thank you for always doing whatever it takes to get a job done, and for the countless nights and weekends you’ve sacrificed for our cause. I look forward to many more years, many more books, and moving mountains together.
I never understood the true meaning of “fighting the good fight” until my friend Charlie Turano came into my life. Charlie, your positive outlook on life and continuous encouragement have supported me through the toughest of days, and each time I leave your company, I leave with a sense of confidence that my life holds limitless possibilities. No challenge is too great, and the good guy does prevail. Thank you, Charlie, for the guidance you’ve shown based on your vast experience, for your faith in my project, and for looking out for me when I was busy looking out for everyone else. Mostly, I thank you for your loyalty and your friendship.
Thank you to former congressman Larry LaRocco for showing me that one man can make a difference. Navigating the political arena in Washington, D.C., in support of HR3421, Larry was instrumental in getting my idea turned into a bill and introduced to the House of Representatives and the Senate in an effort to help millions of Americans struggling with medical collection debt. Without his guidance and support, this bill may never have come to fruition. Larry, I’m forever grateful for your believing in me, and for turning my idea into reality, and feel that I’ve made a lifelong friend in the process.
Thank you to my trusted advisor, Tom Kalahar, whose constant coaching and analysis of all things media and beyond, boosted me to the next level. I am so grateful to you for recognizing the magnitude of our potential, and for the support you’ve shown throughout this process. You are greatly appreciated.
To my friends Greg Ray, Michelle Lemons, and Michael Broussard at International Speakers Bureau and ISB New Media, I thank you for believing in me and for all of the time and input you’ve contributed to Credit 911. Your feedback and honest analysis of the work helped to make this book possible, and I know there are many other meaningful projects ahead.
To Debby Englander, Kelly O’Connor, Adrianna Johnson, Claire Wesley and all contributors at John Wiley & Sons, I thank you for your tireless work on Credit 911, and for believing in my message. You are true professionals, and I am very grateful for all of your guidance and support.
