Wrap-Up

Complications definitely live up to their name. In the past two chapters, we’ve gone over creating and customizing complications, allowing the user to scroll through them in time using Time Travel and updating the complications from pretty much anywhere. The inclusion of complications in your app can lead to amazing user engagement—no other system API causes your user to see your app every time she raises her wrist. For that reason, implementing a good complication is one of the best things you can do to make an excellent watch app. Complications are a unique piece of software on watchOS. In the next chapter, we’ll look at using some of the hardware on the device: the accelerometer and the heart rate sensor.
