The Effect on Managers

As a result of spending less time selecting teams, moving employees around based on short-term resource needs, and mediating petty disagreements between coworkers, the role of managers has changed significantly after self-selection.

Managers no longer have to maintain a constant state of readiness to solve personnel problems. Rather than constantly escalating issues, squads now solve their own problems, and managers have the time and energy to think and plan for the future and to focus on strategic decisions. They’re able to provide real leadership, as opposed to just management, and to help their staff in their growth, development, and career planning.
