With the addition of HealthKit, TapALap is more useful than ever. In a short amount of time, we’ve opened up its data to a larger world of health apps. These apps are a great opportunity for developers to not only create great apps with lots of users but also effect real healthy change in lifestyles around the world. I encourage you to use HealthKit whenever possible in an app that records (or uses) health-related data.
You also learned how to use other sensors in your apps, and while only the accelerometer is currently available, it’s enough to make some neat interfaces. Using HealthKit and sensor data in a watch app takes the interaction beyond the screen and into the real world.
None of this cool stuff matters, however, if your apps are so slow that your users won’t want to use them. Next, let’s look at some ways you can take an underperforming watch app and turn it into a shining example of big performance from a little device.
