Resumes

This appendix includes four sample resumes that illustrate some of the key points made in chapter 5.

•  The first sample is a functional resume for a financial executive who is planning a career change into real estate development.

•  The second sample is a hybrid resume for a senior executive who spent a fair bit of time at one company. In this case, the accomplishments were subdivided into categories to break up the text and avoid a long line of bullets under one employer.

•  The third sample is for a recent college graduate with multiple internships.

•  The fourth sample illustrates a deconstructed resume, which can be used for online applications, as explained in chapter 8.

We recommend having a nicely formatted resume for use in face-to-face meetings, networking, and when applying for positions that request you to email your resume in for review. For online applications, we recommend using a resume with simple formatting, like the last sample in this appendix.
