ABOUT THIS COURSE

As one course among many offered in our curriculum, How to Build High-Performance Teams has been designed specifically for the practicing manager and the future manager. It provides private, self-paced, individualized study; learning and self-evaluation through instructional programming; and communication between the student and our staff of instructors through assignments and final examination based on the case study as pioneered by Harvard University. Paralleling a business school course of study, our curriculum makes available a stable, inclusive, and continuing transmittal of practices and perspectives to those working managers who, on their own time and at their own pace, want to continue their education.

Donald H. Weiss, Ph.D., is currently a Program Manager for Citicorp Executive Development Center. He was formerly a Director of Corporate Training for Millers Mutual Insurance Company in Alton, Illinois. His most recent book is Fair, Square and Legal: Safe Hiring, Managing, and Firing Methods for Keeping You and Your Company Out of Court (AMACOM Books, 1991.) Dr. Weiss has also written the Successful Office Skills Series for AMACOM, as well as many articles and other self-study programs for the American Management Association.

The publisher wishes to thank Patricia M. Albrecht, Management Consultant in the Boston area, for her help in reviewing the manuscript of this course.
