We have recommended many specific management policies and practices throughout this book, ranging from broad company policy to relationships between organization units to the conduct of day-to-day interactions between employees and their bosses. These may seem disparate, but they are all representative of and reinforce a particular, and particularly powerful, organization culture: the culture of “partnership.” In Part V, we discuss what we mean by partnership, including a case study of Mayo Clinic, an exemplar of partnership culture; we describe the essentials of genuine leadership, especially as these pertain to the leadership of partnership cultures; and, we provide guidance for organizations seeking seriously to change in the direction of partnership.
