ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christian Hunt is the founder of Human Risk, a consulting and training firm specialising in bringing behavioural science to ethics and compliance.

Christian's practical experience of deploying behavioural science to solve real‐world problems began in an informal sense when he conducted several unsupervised, unscientific experiments as a small child. These have continued to influence his work. Not least because he still bears the scars. More formally, he was a managing director and head of behavioural science at UBS, a role specially created for him following his pioneering deployment of it within compliance and risk. Christian joined the firm in compliance & operational risk control, leading the function globally for UBS Asset Management and regionally for UBS Europe, the Middle East & Africa (excluding Switzerland).

Before joining UBS, he was Chief Operating Officer of the Prudential Regulation Authority, a subsidiary of the Bank of England responsible for regulating financial services. He'd never intended to become a regulator; but, when, in 2011, the Financial Services Authority came looking for a new Head of Department to help change the shape of regulation after the 2008 financial crisis, he jumped at the chance.

He has also worked in a family office and as an investment banker. Christian began his career at Arthur Andersen in regulatory and financial consulting. His most memorable project was matching dormant accounts in Swiss banks with lists of Holocaust victims.

He is a Member of the Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists, a Fellow of the ICAEW, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He also holds an MA from the University of Oxford.

Christian speaks and writes regularly about BeSci and human risk. He also hosts and produces the Human Risk podcast. You can find him on Twitter at @humanriskltd. He divides his time between Munich and London, travelling between the two cities by train.
