Chapter 5 explains the importance of the sustaining portion of the 5S program. Figure B.1 is an example of a 5S audit form that you can use to monitor the shop floor’s compliance with the 5S program. It is a template that should be tailored to your company’s needs. Simply list the key criteria in each S that you wish to check for in your weekly audits.
Similar to the 5S audit form, Figure B.2 is another template that should be customized based on your manufacturing processes. It will help track the weekly 5S scores from the audit and allow everyone to see how each area is conforming to 5S. Make sure to post this form throughout the factory.
The form in Figure B.3 is used to capture time and motion study information in a given manufacturing or assembly process. It will help you identify waste-removal opportunities and allow you to distribute work content evenly throughout the process for better flow. Chapter 5 outlines the fundamental rules in time study collection and line balancing.
