Summary
This chapter introduced the Windows SMB/CIFS file-sharing protocols and how they can be used on the Tiger platform. Mac OS X offers integration features with Windows, such as Active Directory binding, file and printer sharing, and basic Exchange server synchronization. For those wanting to share more than just their home directories, Tiger includes Samba 3.x. In a corporate environment, Apple's support of Windows technologies makes it possible to integrate and interoperate with Microsoft-centric networks.
