The following are some tips for working with windows:
If there are changes that need to be saved in any of the windows being closed, you will be prompted to save the changes. Either hit Return to save the changes, or enter
With some applications, Option-
-M may function differently. For example, issuing Option-
-M in Microsoft Word (Office v.X) will open the Paragraph format window (Format → Paragraph). To be safe, you should save changes to the file before trying to minimize all the application’s windows with Option-
-M.
Dragging a folder’s proxy icon from a Finder window’s titlebar will move that folder to the new location instead of creating an alias. If you want to create an alias for a folder, you should select the folder in the Finder, then Option-
-drag the folder to where you’d like the alias to be. As a visual cue to let you know you’re creating an alias, the mouse pointer will change to a curved arrow.
Command-click on the proxy icon. This will pop open a context menu, showing you where the file exists. Selecting another item (such as a hard drive or a folder) from the proxy icon’s context menu will open a Finder window taking you to that location.
-click on the Dock icon for the application you’re using, and the open windows for all other active applications will instantly hide. To bring another application’s windows to the front, click on that application’s Dock icon, or to unhide all the other windows, select Show All from the application menu (Finder → Show All).
